The Palamós City Council has announced that, starting May 1st, motorized vehicle access to the Cala Estreta path will be restricted again, a measure that will remain in place until the end of summer to protect the natural environment and ensure safety.

This prohibition affects the stretch that crosses the Castell-Cap Roig Natural Area of Interest (EIN). Additionally, the Pineda d'en Gori-S'Alguer pine forest will also have a permanent closure starting June 15th, extending until the end of the summer season.
The municipal initiative aims to preserve the environmental values of the area, regulate public use, and promote access on foot or by bicycle. Likewise, it seeks to improve visitor safety during peak months and facilitate the work of emergency teams in case of fire or other risk situations.
The restriction will apply to all motorized vehicles, except those of residents or property owners in the area. Access control will be carried out in coordination with the city councils of Mont-ras and Palafrugell, as well as with the Generalitat de Catalunya. Pedestrian access, both via the coastal path and trails, will remain open.
For visitors, a car park will be available at the top of the Castell plain, which will be paid from May 1st until the end of summer. Vehicles that pay their circulation tax in Palamós will be able to park there free of charge. This car park, with a maximum capacity of 600 vehicles, will not allow overnight stays for vans, motorhomes, or free camping. An information panel at the C-31 access will indicate real-time occupancy.
The parking area near the beach, with 50 spaces, will be reserved exclusively for accredited persons with reduced mobility and authorized services. This year, a license plate reading system has been implemented to fine vehicles that access beyond the authorized zone without permission.
