The operation, suspended on Friday evening due to darkness, has been reactivated with a Firefighters' helicopter flying over the Cap de Begur area and Civil Guard personnel by sea. The search focuses on the coastal stretch between Pals beach, where the overturned jet ski was found, and the coast of Begur.
The jet ski ridden by the minor was found overturned on Friday at Pals beach, two days after the activity organizers reported him missing. Firefighters are working under the hypothesis that the boy may have lost his life jacket and sunk.
During Friday, emergency teams had already searched the coast by land between L'Escala and L'Estartit and deployed drones around the Medes Islands. The discovery of the jet ski in Pals extended the search radius southward, although operation leaders remind that sea currents make it difficult to pinpoint the exact area where the missing person might be.
