In June 2024, Unió Esportiva Torroella made history by achieving promotion to Primera Catalana for the first time, after overcoming Centre d’Esports Farners in a thrilling playoff decided from the penalty spot.

After an intense season in the group 1 of Segona Catalana, where they finished third, the club qualified for the promotion playoffs. This two-legged tie pitted the second and third-placed teams from different groups against each other, with the aim of securing a spot in Primera Catalana.
The first leg was played on June 16th at the Camp Municipal d’Esports in Torroella de Montgrí, leaving the resolution of the tie for the return match in Santa Coloma de Farners. Both encounters were very close, testing the teams' endurance.
The penalty shootout was what decided the promotion for Unió Esportiva Torroella, culminating a season marked by collective effort, injuries, and sporting challenges. The team demonstrated its strength by reaching the final stages with clear opportunities and seizing them.
This leap to Primera Catalana represents significant sporting value, placing the club at a higher competitive level and confirming the growth of a sports project rooted in the municipality. It also signifies the continuation of the work done, overcoming various setbacks during the season.
The celebration of this success took place on June 24th with a parade through the streets of Torroella, including a reception in the Plenary Hall of the Town Hall and a greeting from the players from the council balcony.
In the following season, Unió Esportiva Torroella competed in Primera Catalana, thus consolidating 2024 as a key year in the recent history of the club and the municipality.
