The institutional motion recognizes the contribution of Vins i Licors Grau to the dissemination of wine culture, the promotion of Catalan wines and those from the DO Empordà, as well as its connection with Palafrugell. In 2027, fifty years will be commemorated since the opening of the business, founded by Jordi Grau Dillet and Maria Dolors Segarra Farré, which originates from a family tradition dating back to 1951.
With its headquarters in Palafrugell for five decades, the company, along with Distribuïdora Gironina, employs 67 people and distributes approximately eight million bottles annually, with national and international reach.
The company stands out for its promotion of Catalan and Empordanese wine, boasting a wine shop with nearly 2,000 references of Catalan wine, including around 400 from some forty wineries within the DO Empordà. It also participates in wine culture dissemination and training activities and is part of the Ruta del Vi DO Empordà.
The involvement of Vins i Licors Grau in the cultural, sporting, and social life of the municipality and the region is evident through collaborations with initiatives such as Flors i Violes, sardana music sessions, the Club Hoquei Palafrugell, and social entities like the Red Cross, the Fundació Oncolliga, and Cáritas.
The company and its founders have received several accolades, including the Placa al treball President Macià (2003), the Lledoner d’Or de la DO Empordà (2018), recognition as Palafrugellencs de l’Any (2023), and the municipal award for business trajectory (2024).
The City Council has set up an online form for public adhesions, which will be included in the file to be submitted to the Department of Culture of the Generalitat.
