The Palamós Fishing Museum has officially named its new pedagogical and scientific vessel Aulamar, a 15-meter catamaran currently under construction in Cádiz shipyards, expected to enter service next summer.

The name Aulamar was selected yesterday during a session held at the Espai de Peix, following a participatory process where schoolchildren from educational centers in the municipality of Palamós submitted seventeen proposals.
This new vessel, which will function as an extension of the museum, is a 15-meter long catamaran designed to be an innovative and sustainable space, focused on generating experiences and knowledge about the marine environment, accommodating up to 38 passengers.
The construction project, costing 850,000 euros, is being financed by Next Generation funds from the European Union, as part of the destination cohesion action led by the Department of Business and Labour of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
The ship is being built by the Culmar shipyards in Chiclana, and stands out for its 100% electric propulsion system, primarily powered by solar panels installed on the cabin roof, ensuring low environmental impact navigation.
