Torroella de Montgrí launches the second edition of the Festival Brots on Thursday, October 22nd, running until October 25th in various locations across Empordà, exploring the relationship between culture, territory, and landscape.

The festival, driven by Joventuts Musicals de Torroella de Montgrí and artistically directed by Montse Faura, this year poses the question: "what do we do today with what we have received?" Brots expands on last year's focus on olive oil to explore the connections between agriculture, heritage, gastronomy, architecture, memory, crafts, and ways of life.
The opening day, Thursday, October 22nd, begins at 6 PM at the Museu de la Mediterrània with "La Revolta" (The Revolt), a conversation led by journalist Agnès Batlle, featuring farmer and musician Jan Rodríguez and producer Jordi Colls Font. The event will discuss the future of farming and the relationship between landscape and food.
Following this, at 6:30 PM in the same museum, Grop Teatre will present "Paisatge" (Landscape), an itinerant scenic performance by creators Daniel Casanovas and Josep Massó, inviting the audience to view landscape as a space of relationships and memories.
The evening continues at 8 PM at the Auditori Espai Ter with GIO Symphonia performing "Brots de música" (Sprouts of Music), a musical triptych directed by Francesc Prat, which dialogues with nature and the land. The day concludes with a tasting of oils from the DOP Oli de l'Empordà.
As a pre-festival event, on Friday, October 16th, Cinema Montgrí will screen the documentary "Abans de l’escenari, el fang" (Before the Stage, the Mud) by Salvador Sunyer, detailing the creative process of the circus company Baró d’Evel.
The festival will tour various municipalities in Empordà, utilizing spaces such as churches, castles, and squares to bridge tradition and contemporaneity, and explore territorial heritage for new cultural proposals.
The presentation of the second edition took place in Pals and was attended by representatives from the Torroella de Montgrí Town Hall, the Girona Provincial Council, the Baix Empordà Regional Council, the mayor of Fontclara, and the festival's artistic director, Montse Faura, among others.
