Spanish handball coach Jordi Ribera has included center back Natan Suárez in the 18-player squad for the European Championship preparatory friendlies scheduled to be played in Pamplona from January 8 to 11.

The Sporting CP player, who plays as a center back, is the only recent debutant to remain in Ribera's squad. Suárez made his debut for the Spanish national team alongside Pablo Urdangarin, Mario Nevado, and Álvaro Martínez Lobato during the friendly matches against Sweden played on October 27 and November 1.

"It is a list that combines people with experience and younger people, and even players for whom it may be their first experience in a competition. There must always be a selection that mixes the experience of having been in difficult and complicated moments with the enthusiasm of those who join for the first time."

The team concentration is scheduled in Pamplona on January 2. The confirmed friendly matches are on January 8 against Slovakia and January 10 against Tunisia. A third opponent remains to be determined from Portugal, Egypt, or Iran.
