From November 1st to 30th, 2026, Torroella de Montgrí and L'Estartit are holding the fifth edition of the Participatory Budgets, where citizens can select projects worth 150,000 € from the 2027 municipal budget.
Voting can be done both online, through the Decidim platform, and in person using ballot boxes distributed in municipal facilities, the OIAC of the Town Hall, and the EMD of L'Estartit. All registered residents of the municipality aged 16 or over, or who turn 16 during 2026, can participate.
Fifteen projects have been proposed, validated by the municipal Technical Services and prioritized by the Participatory Budgets Monitoring Committee. These projects, with costs ranging from €1,700 to €110,000, address improvements in Torroella de Montgrí (such as in Plaça 11 de Setembre, the Ter riverbank, or the 'La Gàbia' sports court) and in L'Estartit (including a new sound system, more shade in the wooden boat park, or improvements to the Portitxol school environment).
As a novelty, the voting system functions like a 'shopping cart,' allowing participants to choose multiple proposals as long as the total cost does not exceed €150,000. If the limit is exceeded, the vote will be void. This change aims to educate citizens on project prioritization.
To vote, identification with DNI, NIE, or passport and date of birth is required. Online voting takes place on the Decidim platform, with assisted voting available at the OIAC and EMD for those needing help. In-person voting with paper ballots is also possible at designated points and the Fira de Sant Andreu. Each person can only vote once, with online votes taking precedence in case of duplicates.

"Participatory Budgets are a very valuable tool for citizens to directly decide how a portion of municipal resources are invested. We are in the fifth edition with a commitment to continue opening the door to participation and with an important novelty: the shopping cart system, which allows each person to distribute their vote among various projects. I encourage everyone to consult the proposals and vote, because every voice counts in building the town we want."

"Participatory Budgets allow the residents of L'Estartit to directly express which improvements they consider priorities for their environment. The five projects in L'Estartit respond to needs communicated by the citizens themselves, from improving public and leisure spaces to enhancing the school's surroundings. I invite everyone to participate and decide the future of L'Estartit."
The voting results will be made public during December 2026, and the winning projects will be executed throughout 2027.
