The Torroella de Montgrí City Council has inaugurated the Josep Capellà Viewpoint on the terrace of Espai Medes in l'Estartit, an event honoring the figure of Josep Capellà i Hereu for his contribution to a tourism model respectful of the territory.

This municipal initiative seeks to recognize the career of Josep Capellà i Hereu, who was a key promoter of a tourism vision focused on the preservation of natural heritage, social cohesion, and a positive impact for the local community. The new viewpoint aims to keep his legacy and thought alive.
Located at a strategic point in Espai Medes, the viewpoint is configured as a symbolic place that invites contemplation of the landscape and reflection on the importance of responsible territorial management.
The inauguration ceremony included institutional speeches and a musical performance by the group Combonautes, bringing together representatives from the tourism sector, family members of Josep Capellà, and local residents.
This inauguration coincides with the first anniversary of Espai Medes, a facility that has consolidated itself as a reference center for the dissemination of the natural and marine heritage of the Montgrí, Medes Islands and Baix Ter Natural Park.
With the creation of this viewpoint, Torroella de Montgrí and l'Estartit reaffirm their commitment to a sustainable tourism model and to preserving the memory of the figures who have been benchmarks in this field.
