A Catalan political party has launched a strategy to regain its influence and representation in several metropolitan municipalities, especially in areas where it has lost councilors in recent years.

The political formation currently lacks representation in important cities such as l'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Badalona, Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Cornellà de Llobregat, and Sant Boi de Llobregat. Furthermore, in some localities like Viladecans, Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Cornellà de Llobregat, and Badia del Vallès, they have not secured representation since 2011.
Recent appointments made by the party reinforce this strategy of regeneration and persistent effort in the territory. New leaders have been designated in Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Viladecans, l'Hospitalet de Llobregat, and Rubí. However, key areas like Badalona, where the formation disappeared in the last elections, still need to be addressed. The party has opted to grant autonomy to municipalities to promote local talent, avoiding major external signings.
For municipalities without representation, the strategy includes approaching citizens through local groups and collaborating with municipal entities. Discussion groups, a political science technique, are also being used to "listen to the problems and ideas" of residents, acknowledging that the lack of representation indicates that "something has been done wrong" and that it is necessary to connect with citizens' concerns.
The pillars of this new political approach address public service issues, rebalancing within cities, and combating tax pressure through tax reductions. It is highlighted that the fiscal deficit of 21 billion euros negatively impacts municipal services and investments. Another key point is coexistence and immigration, with a focus on "common rules for everyone" and the need for each municipality to adapt to demographic growth with more primary care centers and schools.
In parallel, metropolitan localities with good electoral results provide economic resources to municipalities where the party lacks representation. Examples of metropolitan strongholds include Begues, Sant Climent de Llobregat, la Palma de Cervelló, el Papiol, and Sant Cugat del Vallès. Outside the metropolitan area, Martorell serves as an example of how the formation can win over a locality from other parties.
The formation claims a "convergent gene" in the metropolitan area, based on "work well done" and the combination of liberal and social democratic policies. In Badalona, videos have even been produced to celebrate historical figures of the party. However, the candidate for Barcelona in the 2027 municipal elections still needs to be defined, a figure considered crucial for the brand and its impact in large municipalities like l'Hospitalet or Sant Adrià de Besòs.
In the past, the former political coalition achieved good results in these municipalities. It won the Catalan elections in 2010 in Sant Boi de Llobregat and Badalona, and was second in l'Hospitalet de Llobregat and Santa Coloma de Gramenet. During the former president's terms, the formation maintained significant support in these localities, even exceeding 20% of the votes in Catalan elections, despite the dominance of other parties in most municipal elections.
