DFactory Barcelona, a flagship Industry 4.0 project in the metropolitan area, has reached 100% capacity, currently housing 42 companies. This success has accelerated the CZFB's expansion plans, which aim to more than triple the current surface area.
The expansion will increase the space from 17,000 square meters to nearly 60,000. Construction has already begun with urbanization processes, the installation of the heating and cooling network, and the building of a new cube-shaped structure of over 1,000 square meters, designed for economic, social, and cultural events. Construction of the new blocks A and D will start in early 2026.
“"The Zona Franca has consolidated itself as a key space for the economy and innovation of the city and its entire metropolitan area."
The Special Delegate of the State to the CZFB, Pere Navarro, explained that the expansion will allow the facility to host new companies linked to strategic sectors such as robotics, artificial intelligence, sensor technology, and 3D printing. This qualitative and quantitative growth will reinforce DFactory's role as an international benchmark for urban and advanced industry.
Supporting this innovation drive is a solid economic situation. The Consorci's plenary session approved a 2026 budget that forecasts profits of 31.4 million euros from ordinary activities, a 2% increase over the current year's closing forecast. The turnover is expected to reach 82 million euros, reflecting strong recurring business performance.
