Citizens of Esparreguera have the opportunity to review the documentation of the new POUM both online and in person at the Citizen Attention Office (OAC) of Territory. Additionally, the City Council has set up a personalized consultation service with municipal architects, by appointment, to answer questions about the proposed urban model.
This marks the third initial approval of the document, which was ratified in an extraordinary Plenary Session on March 11 with broad political consensus. The plan's update responds to the need to incorporate new Catalan legislation, including reserves for official protected housing and adjustments to equipment standards. The POUM foresees moderate growth, with a limit of 56.85 hectares of developable land and potential for 2,934 homes, of which between 40% and 50% will be publicly protected.
“"The POUM is a primary objective for the municipal government."
Among the main strategic lines of the plan are the reservation of land for economic diversification, with approximately 265,025 square meters allocated to productive activities, and the enhancement of open spaces and green areas. It also seeks the administrative regularization of areas such as Mas d'en Gall and Can Rial, and the development of sectors like Castell 2 or Plana 2.
“"This period represents a key opportunity for citizens to thoroughly understand the proposed model for the municipality."
The POUM also emphasizes the valorization of natural heritage and the protection of architectural heritage, with a review of the existing catalog that includes 178 protected elements. Once the 45-working-day public exhibition period concludes, during which objections can be submitted, the plan must pass provisional approval by the Municipal Plenary before being elevated to the Territorial Urban Planning Commission for its definitive approval.
