Mayor Jaume Collboni and Pere Navarro, head of the Consorci de la Zona Franca, laid the first stone this Tuesday for the expansion of DFactory Barcelona.

The project will increase the facility's size from 17,000 to 60,000 square meters by the end of 2026. Backed by a 50 million euro investment, the hub will feature four new buildings dedicated to 3D printing, robotics, and artificial intelligence research.

"DFactory is a landing strip for companies to innovate and collaborate."

The expansion is expected to create 1,500 direct jobs and 5,000 indirect positions. New tech companies are scheduled to move into the facility in early 2027, solidifying Barcelona as a global leader in advanced manufacturing.
