The Consell Comarcal del Baix Llobregat has launched the campaign «Stop Following Rumors: Baix Llobregat Against Racism and Hate Speech», aiming to raise public awareness about the spread of disinformation and promote critical attitudes.

The initiative focuses on the content we receive, consume, and share, particularly through social media, and encourages reflection on the consequences of contributing to the spread of false information, prejudices, and stereotypes. Rumors and hate speech are not harmless; they can fuel discrimination, reinforce biases, and create exclusionary situations affecting coexistence and human rights.
The slogan «Stop Following Rumors» plays on the dual meaning of 'following': the daily action of following accounts on social media and the individual and collective responsibility not to perpetuate or amplify rumors. The campaign invites people to question information before sharing, verify it, and identify content that may reproduce stereotypes, discrimination, or hate speech.
With a contemporary and direct visual language, the initiative aims to connect with younger generations and serve as a tool for municipalities and organizations in promoting respect, diversity, and equality.
The campaign was publicly presented on September 22nd during a regional day against hate speech, which gathered around a hundred participants to foster debate and develop tools for a more inclusive society.
The Consell Comarcal has developed awareness materials such as stickers and postcards, which will be distributed to municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants. Larger municipalities interested in obtaining these materials can contact the Consell.
