The program, coinciding with the International Day of Older Persons, is specifically designed for seniors but is open to anyone interested, aiming to reach a broader audience. The initiative seeks to give prominence to older individuals, raise awareness about the need for an age-friendly society, and advocate for safe and dignified aging.
The event features a variety of activities, including workshops, cultural performances, dance, music, and social gatherings. The goal is to value the experience, knowledge, cooperation, and support that older people can offer.
This initiative is organized by the Social Action area of the Sallent City Council, in collaboration with several local entities: Fàbrica Vella, the Municipal Music School Cal Moliner, the Casal Dining Hall, the association Guifré el Pelós, and OTP Cabrianes.
The campaign also calls for combating ageism, a often silent but deeply rooted form of discrimination fueled by prejudice and oversimplification based on age. These stereotypes disregard the diversity of experiences and ways of aging, imposing a single, exclusionary criterion. The aim is to recognize dignity at all ages and value the contributions of older individuals.
