The Baix Llobregat County Observatory confirmed this Thursday, March 19, that immigration has become the primary driver of population growth in the region and L'Hospitalet de Llobregat.

According to 2025 data, the foreign population in Baix Llobregat increased by 5.2%, reaching 110,819 inhabitants (12.9% of the total). In L'Hospitalet, the impact is even greater: including naturalized citizens born abroad, 42% of the population is of foreign origin.
The report highlights that new residents have an average age of 36.5 years, significantly younger than the 44.6 years average for Spanish nationals. Americas lead the growth, specifically from Colombia, Peru, and Venezuela, although Morocco remains the most common foreign nationality in the area.
Municipalities such as Castelldefels (24.2%), Cornellà (18.5%), and Martorell (16.8%) show the highest percentages of international residents, marking a structural shift in the metropolitan demographic.
