This infrastructure has become a strategic point to ensure water resilience in the face of potential drought episodes or technical incidents elsewhere in the network. The facility has the capacity to treat a maximum flow of 1,000 liters per second from the Baix Llobregat aquifer, although its regular operation will be at 400 liters per second.
The project has integrated advanced technologies such as activated carbon and reverse osmosis to optimize water quality. Furthermore, a green roof is planned to minimize the visual impact of the facility in an area of high agricultural and social value, frequently used by athletes and pedestrians.
The project involved an investment of 45.9 million euros, a cost that will be covered by users through their water bills. The work is part of the management companies' investment plans to improve water resource management in the region.
