Medical specialists from Sant Joan de Déu Hospital in Barcelona have visited Khadija and Cherive in Mauritania to confirm their full recovery two years after their separation surgery.

The twins, now aged two years and four months, were born joined at the upper abdomen. Following a complex five-hour surgery on November 8, 2023, led by Xavier Tarrado, the girls have achieved an optimal state of health and development.

"We have been able to confirm their perfect state of health, with optimal growth and development."

The treatment was funded by the Cuida'm solidarity program, which has helped 434 children since 2004. The surgical process included advanced 3D printing simulations to ensure the safety of the separation, involving a team of twenty medical professionals.
This humanitarian effort is part of a broader collaboration with Mauritania to enhance healthcare access through digital technology and artificial intelligence, aiming to reach over 50% of the local population.
