The Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB) has announced significant improvements to the Nitbus lines N14 and N16 to address their high occupancy, adjusting frequencies and schedules.

Line N14, connecting municipalities such as Castelldefels, Gavà, and Viladecans with Barcelona via towns like Cornellà, Esplugues, and L’Hospitalet, will see its service frequency reduced from 20 to 15 minutes daily. This measure aims to meet the existing demand on this route.
Meanwhile, line N16, which also links Castelldefels, Gavà, and Viladecans with L’Hospitalet and Barcelona, will advance its service start time. The goal is to minimize the time gap between daytime and nighttime services. Additionally, the frequency will improve to 15 minutes during the summer months (May to September) and on Saturdays and eve of holidays from October to April. On other days between October and April, the frequency will remain at 20 minutes.
These enhancements follow a record-breaking year for the Nitbus service in 2025, with 10.7 million validations, a 6% increase from the previous year. Since 2023, demand has grown by 24%.
This summer saw the introduction of the new line N21, providing night service to Sant Climent de Llobregat and the seafront of Gavà, connecting them with Viladecans and the rest of the Nitbus network. Currently, the service operates 24 lines between 10:30 PM and 6:00 AM, using 189 vehicles to serve 18 metropolitan municipalities.
The AMB also reminds the public about the on-demand stop service offered by Nitbus. This service prioritizes the safety of more vulnerable groups, such as minors and women, allowing them to alight as close as possible to their destination during nighttime hours.
