To ensure a safe, fun, and violence-free Autumn Festival, the City Council has set up three key locations with purple points: 8th of March Park, the athletics track, and Joan Maragall street. These points will provide information and support throughout the festival days.
The operating hours for the purple points are as follows: at 8th of March Park, from October 8th to 11th with varied schedules; on Joan Maragall street, daily during the festival (8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th) from 11:30 PM to 4:30 AM; and at the athletics track, on the 9th, 10th, and 11th from 11:00 PM to 4:30 AM.
As a new initiative, the purple points will feature sentinel wristbands. These wristbands contain two reagents capable of detecting narcotic substances, alerting users if a drink has been tampered with. They are a preventive tool designed to enhance municipal safety protocols at leisure events, offering quick results and a clear message of commitment to safety.
This measure complements existing protocols and includes a QR code with usage instructions, an explanatory video, an interpretation guide, direct access to 112, and the option to send location to trusted contacts.
In addition to the purple points, health stations will also be available during the Autumn Festival at 8th of March Park (Thursday 8th, from 12:00 AM to 4:00 AM) and at the athletics track (Friday 9th and Saturday 10th, from 11:00 PM to 4:30 AM).
The objective of these initiatives is to equip the purple points with effective tools to serve as safety spaces for women during the celebrations.
