Facade of Ca la Cristina, a historic building in Ripollet to become a community center.

Renovation and musealization works on Ca la Cristina, a historic building in Ripollet acquired in 2019, began in the second half of September. The property will be transformed into the future community center for Pont Vell-Tiana and will include a space dedicated to local memory.

The Ripollet City Council has initiated renovation works on Ca la Cristina, located on the carretera de l’Estació. More than a century after its construction, the building, acquired by the council in 2019, will embark on a new phase as a community center for the Pont Vell-Tiana area. The project combines heritage preservation with new social and community uses.
The project, awarded by the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB) to the company Serveis Integrals 360 Plus, SL, has a budget of 1,668,839.25 euros (VAT included) and an execution period of 11 months. The plot includes the main dwelling, adjacent structures such as pigsties, a barn, stables, and a washhouse. In addition to restoring the historic house, a new building will be constructed in the courtyard with six rooms for the community center, connected to the old building via a wooden walkway. Access to the new space will be through Carrer del Dr. Gil to ensure accessibility.
Built in 1904 by the grandfather of Cristina Casas, the last owner, Ca la Cristina preserves elements of daily life in Ripollet during the 20th century, including a former grocery store. The renovation will maintain the original layout and elements such as the wine vat, the old bread oven, and items from the grocery store, which will help reconstruct the history of the house and its inhabitants.
The museographic project, designed by the studio Intervento with a budget of 311,062.58 euros, proposes a 'living history' or living museum house concept. The narrative will explain the historical evolution of the Ripoll riverbed and the memory of the territory, emphasizing the role of women, represented by the figure of Cristina Casas. This space will be conceptually linked to the CIP Molí d’en Rata, expanding the heritage narrative of Ripollet.
The future community center for Pont Vell-Tiana, located in the house's courtyard, will feature six rooms for activities of local entities and associations. This new space, accessible from Carrer del Dr. Gil, aims to be a hub for meeting, participation, and socio-community activities, fostering social, cultural, educational, and associative life in the neighborhood. The goal is to promote coexistence and revitalize the community, connecting the house's past with the current needs of the residents.
