Minister Sílvia Paneque confirmed that the project, currently in the adjudication phase, involves an approximate investment of five million euros. The works, expected to begin in 2028, are dependent on joint processing with the Ministry of Coasts.
These new protective elements will be added to the final section of the breakwater, covering an area of approximately 75 meters that is currently left unprotected during strong storms, particularly near the lighthouse.
The main objective of this action is to increase the port's resilience against the effects of climate change and extreme weather phenomena. The port already has a breakwater with 20 concrete caissons that act as wave dampeners, significantly reducing the impact on the main structure.
