The Minister of Agriculture, Òscar Ordeig, confirmed a new case of African Swine Fever (ASF) in Sant Feliu de Llobregat this February 2026, extending the high-risk zone.

The discovery of this case outside the original ground zero in Cerdanyola del Vallès has led the Government of Catalonia to include Sant Feliu de Llobregat, Molins de Rei, and el Papiol in the restricted area. A total of 16 municipalities are now under high-risk protocols, including the Can Castellví area in Barcelona.

"There is a natural corridor from ground zero towards Molins de Rei and Sant Feliu de Llobregat, and experts say it was a very difficult area to control."

Access to natural environments is strictly prohibited in these towns. However, residents can still access their homes, and indoor economic activities, sports facilities, and restaurants remain open. Authorities are implementing a 'double fence' strategy along the Llobregat and Besòs rivers to prevent the virus from spreading further south.
