The AP-7 highway has been closed again this Wednesday southbound, between Martorell and Castellbisbal, at the request of the Ministry of Transport, to allow repair work on the collapsed slope in Gelida.

The closure of the AP-7 highway affects a three-and-a-half-kilometer stretch southbound, as the necessary excavation to reach stable ground occupies all three lanes of the road. This measure, requested by the Ministry of Transport, diverts traffic via the A-2 road, as confirmed by the Servei Català de Trànsit (SCT).

"The timeline for completing the work is fifteen days, subject to weather conditions."

This interruption occurs after the AP-7 was initially closed for safety reasons following the fatal railway accident on January 20 in Gelida, when a containment wall from the highway fell onto a train, causing the death of a driver.
Although one southbound lane was reopened near Martorell on Saturday midday, technicians have determined that continuing the repair work on the damaged structures requires the total interruption of traffic to ensure safety and the effectiveness of the excavation.
