Jordi Albert, ERC's deputy spokesperson in the Parliament, made strong statements from the Fira de la Candelera in Molins de Rei on January 31, 2026. He indicated that, without progress on the IRPF issue, the party would not be in a position to negotiate the Generalitat's accounts for this year.

"If we do not advance on the IRPF issue, we will not be in a position to negotiate the budget."

Albert admitted that, currently, he sees no reason for optimism, as he believes the financing file remains stalled. Nevertheless, he insisted that Esquerra wants a budget for Catalonia, but it must be realistic and include all necessary financing and management tools to cover the country's needs.
Furthermore, the Republican leader used the Rodalia crisis as an example of the structural deficiencies suffered by Catalonia that cannot be resolved without new accounts. He attributed the poor functioning of the railway service to "the inaction and lack of investment by the Spanish state governments."
Finally, Jordi Albert encouraged citizens to join the demonstration called by user platforms on February 7. He also recalled the morning mobilization organized by the ANC and the Consell de la República under the slogan "Enough! Only way: independence!".
