The project, with a budget of 466,442.85 euros and currently in the tendering phase, aims to transform the current Pi Tallat square into a new access point to the stream. The first phase of works, expected to begin in the second quarter of 2027, will progressively restore this previously inaccessible riverside area, bringing it closer to residents.
A comfortable, safe, and accessible route will be created, featuring ramps, rest areas, viewpoints, and resting zones. A unique element will be the use of dry stone walls, a traditional construction technique that will blend with the landscape and offer refuge for biodiversity. This initiative is part of the AMB's Territorial Cohesion Action Program (PACTE).
The project also prioritizes sustainability, preserving existing trees, enhancing biodiversity, and improving the stream's ecological conditions. A key action will be the removal of the invasive American waterweed, which currently obstructs much of the stream and hinders the growth of native vegetation.
This first phase is the beginning of a forward-looking community project. Subsequent phases aim to restore the entire old Riera path, connecting the old town with the Colònia Güell, and create a new route to the Font del Murri, consolidating a green network linking the town with its riverine and natural surroundings.
To inform the public, an informational meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 18th, at 6 PM, in the Plenary Hall.
