The most challenging situation during the storm in El Vendrell occurred in Coma-ruga, where around a hundred young people celebrating at the Macarella Club nightclub had to be evacuated due to torrential rains and floods affecting southern Catalonia early Saturday morning.
According to the mayor of El Vendrell, Kenneth Martínez, when the street where the venue is located became flooded, the club decided to evacuate the young people to prevent them from becoming trapped. Attendees walked towards a nearby gas station to avoid the risk of hypothermia outside the party venue.
Subsequently, a bus transferred them to the Pla de Mar school, where a shelter point was set up. The youths stayed there for two to three hours until traffic on the N-340 highway was restored in the morning. Some returned home accompanied by family or by private vehicle.
Despite the incident, many of the young people continued the party in the rain, with videos of the scene circulating on social media.
The mayor highlighted the "diligent" action and swift response of the operation, with no reported complaints, and emphasized the nightclub's cooperation. The venue, for its part, regretted the suspension of the event and committed to refunding ticket costs.
