Banyeres del Penedès cancels traditional Wednesday weekly market

The Town Council justifies the decision due to the recent opening of an Spar supermarket and the establishment of a similar Sunday commercial offer.

The Banyeres del Penedès Town Council has decided to cancel the traditional Wednesday weekly market in the historic center, arguing that the new Sunday commercial offer has changed municipal management needs.

The Banyeres del Penedès local government has ended the market that had been held for years in the historic center. This decision follows the recent opening of an Spar supermarket and the implementation of a new market on Sundays.
According to the Town Council, this new commercial setup "has modified the needs for the management and maintenance of public spaces" in the municipality.

Maintaining weekly cleaning and logistics operations for two different markets on two separate days no longer made organizational or economic sense.

The stalls that traditionally set up on Wednesdays will now move to the new Sunday market, thus consolidating the weekly commercial offer.
