The Calafell City Council approved an agreement with the Generalitat de Catalunya on March 4 to construct 11 social housing units on a municipal plot near the Poble center.

The new public housing development will be built at the corner of Ramon Llull and Joan Nin streets. This project is part of the Catalan government's goal to create 50,000 social homes across the region by 2030.

"These first 11 homes are the ones that could move forward right now because the land was immediately available."

Miguel Ángel Perín · Deputy Mayor for Urban Strategy
The Generalitat will fully fund the construction costs. This initiative complements the town's existing efforts, including a local project for 110 housing units aimed at addressing high rental prices in Calafell.
