Man Arrested in Baix Penedès for 24 Vehicle Break-ins

A 22-year-old man has been apprehended by the Mossos d'Esquadra after committing around twenty thefts from vehicles parked in El Vendrell.

The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested a 22-year-old man in Baix Penedès as the alleged perpetrator of 24 thefts with force from vehicles parked in El Vendrell.

Agents of the Police of the Generalitat – Mossos d’Esquadra from the Investigation Unit and the Urban Crime Group (GDU) of the El Vendrell station arrested a 22-year-old man this Tuesday, as the alleged perpetrator of twenty-four thefts with force from inside vehicles. The incidents occurred on the nights of April 25th and 26th, and May 8th and 9th. An unknown individual targeted vehicles parked on various streets in the seaside neighborhoods of Sant Salvador and Coma-ruga in El Vendrell.
The sudden increase in criminal incidents of the same type in very close streets within the same area caused unease and concern among residents. Investigators determined that it was a single individual with a consistent modus operandi. The thief caused significant damage to the looted vehicles and stole all sorts of objects, some of considerable value.
From the investigations carried out by the Investigation Unit, it was confirmed that the perpetrator operated at night and in the early morning to avoid being caught, stealing everything possible from the interior after breaking windows and causing damage to door frames, windows, and trunks. The most significant incident occurred on May 8th, when the thief stole two road bicycles valued at 6,000 euros from a car parked on Emperador Trajà street in Coma-ruga. Additionally, he also took a watch and sports equipment, including helmets, shoes, glasses, and other items. From other vehicles, he also stole a laptop, an electric scooter, a watch, various tools, credit cards, personal documents, and cash.
Among other streets, investigators pinpointed the thief's activity to the area comprising Gràcia, Abat Bassa, Tordera, Llobregat, Octavi August, Marià Fortuny, Emperador Trajà, Via Làctia, Sant Fructuós streets, and Imperial Tarraco, Palfuriana, and Parlament de Catalunya avenues in the seaside neighborhoods of Sant Salvador and Coma-ruga. The search for the suspect led to the identification of a man with no prior arrests and no known address, which made locating him more difficult. Finally, with the support of the Urban Crime Group, he was arrested this Tuesday around 9:35 PM on Masia Socias street in the capital of Baix Penedès.
