The El Vendrell City Council has confirmed a 26.5% reduction in total criminal acts between 2023 and 2025, consolidating a security model based on proximity and technology.

According to data from the Ministry of the Interior, the capital of Baix Penedès has become the Spanish municipality with the largest decrease in crime over the past year. In absolute numbers, the town went from 3,996 incidents in 2023 to 2,939 in 2025.
The decline is particularly significant in crimes against property, such as thefts and robberies, which saw a 33% drop. Within this category, robberies with violence or intimidation decreased by 23.5%, while burglaries fell by 14.8%.
This trend is attributed to a policing model that has increased the Local Police force to 103 officers, making it the third largest in the province of Tarragona. Additionally, a Police Support Unit (USP) and a specific anti-squatting office were established.
