The formal event confirmed that the first three stages of the major French cycling race will take place in Catalonia. The Mayor of El Vendrell, Kenneth Martínez, led the delegation of the four Penedès municipalities that will see the race pass through on Sunday, July 5.
Both President Salvador Illa and Mayor Jaume Collboni agreed on the importance for Catalonia of hosting the best stage cycling race in the world.
The second stage of the 2026 Tour, running from Tarragona to Barcelona, will include 40 kilometers of its route through Alt and Baix Penedès. Cyclists will enter Baix Penedès via El Vendrell and continue towards Calafell and Cunit, before heading towards Cubelles, Vilanova, and the Costes del Garraf.
The route will continue towards Castelldefels and Viladecans, then climb towards Begues and Olesa de Bonesvalls. For the region, the event is a unique showcase to promote its tourist offerings, with a large public presence expected on July 5, combining cycling fans and seasonal tourists.
