The Town Council of La Bisbal del Penedès has ordered residents to shelter in place due to a toxic cloud originating at the municipal pool, resulting in 17 affected individuals and the activation of the Procicat plan.

A chemical reaction at the municipal pool in La Bisbal del Penedès (Tarragona) has generated a toxic cloud, compelling the Town Council to request residents to shelter in place. The incident has led to the activation of the Procicat alert plan.
As a result of the intoxication, six individuals (three men and three women) have been transported to hospitals in less severe condition. Additionally, four more men were evacuated with minor injuries. Seven additional people, including one minor and six adults, received treatment at the scene and were discharged.
The Emergency Services (112) received the alert on Friday at 2:12 PM. Nine Firefighter units responded to the scene to evacuate the pools and establish a safety perimeter. Civil Protection advises closing doors, windows, and outdoor ventilation systems, and calling 112 if experiencing discomfort.
