The House of Culture in Llorenç del Penedès recently hosted the presentation of the book 'El poble de Llorenç vist pels nens i nenes' (The Town of Llorenç Seen by Children), a work resulting from the efforts of third-grade primary students from Les Cometes school.

The event, which saw a full house, highlighted the active participation of the young authors, who shared their experience in the project. This initiative is part of the 'Town Project' carried out at the educational center.
The presentation included interventions from various collaborators, such as the project director, an archivist and researcher of the Freinet movement, and a teacher. The students explained the details of the creative process and the research conducted on their locality.

"Being able to create this book has been a unique pedagogical opportunity that has allowed the children to express in a literary and artistic way everything they have investigated, observed, and experienced."

The book covers various topics such as the origin and history of the town, its first streets, emblematic elements like the communal well, local agriculture, the landscape, local entities, volunteering, and historical memory through old photographs. Additionally, the students learned engraving techniques with local artists to illustrate their texts.
This pedagogical proposal is inspired by the philosophy of Célestin Freinet, which promotes active and natural education, focused on the child, cooperation, and free expression. The collaboration between Les Cometes school and the Terra de llorers project has made this work possible.
