The event, titled EATRIS, Artificial Intelligence, and Biomarkers in Biomedical Research, brought together research and healthcare professionals from the Can Ruti Campus and other institutions to share knowledge, experiences, and collaboration opportunities in this rapidly evolving field.
Jordi Barretina, director of IGTP, delivered the opening welcome. The first session featured David Velasco Gail (EATRIS Spain National Coordinator at ISCIII), David Morrow (EATRIS Head of Scientific Affairs for Advanced Therapies, online), and Julia García-Prado (Scientific Director of IGTP and member of the ISCIII-EATRIS advisory board), highlighting EATRIS's role in translational biomedical research.
The scientific focus was led by Alain Van Gool (Chair of the EATRIS Biomarker Platform), who discussed the potential of artificial intelligence in biomarker research.
A panel discussion with Victoria Delgado (Scientific Director of CMCiB), Gemma Monté-Rubio (Neuroscientist and Head of the Bioimaging Unit at CMCiB), and Sílvia Bonàs-Guarch (GCAT project researcher) debated challenges and perspectives on applying AI and biomarkers.
Josep Maria Torras, from IGTP's Innovation and Business Development Unit, presented the Health Technology Assessment (HTA) service and collaboration with EATRIS to facilitate research transfer.
This conference continues the collaboration between IGTP and EATRIS, which began in 2024 with a focus on patient participation.
IGTP's Scientific Director, Julia García-Prado, positively assessed the event, emphasizing the importance of creating meeting spaces to foster translational research.
