The Badalona City Council has initially approved budget modifications totaling €6.45 million for the expropriation of the monumental complex of Sant Jeroni de la Murtra and €230,000 for the acquisition of a property for a soup kitchen.

The ordinary November session, held in the Council Chamber of the Casa de la Vila, gave the green light to these proposals. The budget modification for the expropriation of Sant Jeroni de la Murtra, declared a Site of Cultural Interest (BCIN) since 2014, will ensure the preservation and public access of this heritage site as a reference cultural facility. This measure was approved with the favorable vote of the PP, PSC, BeCP, and Guanyem groups, while ERC abstained.
In another item, the Council unanimously approved the allocation of €230,000 to acquire a property on Alfons XIII Avenue, in the Sant Roc neighborhood, which will become the city's first soup kitchen. This two-story premises, with a usable area of 263 m², will be able to offer up to 64 daily meals in two shifts. Once the purchase is completed, the City Council will tender the space's adaptation with a budget of €282,411.
A motion was also approved, with the favorable vote of PSC, ERC, BeCP, and Guanyem (with the PP abstaining), to address the severe lack of maintenance at the La Llauna institute building, caused by the abandonment by Eines Canela. The motion urges the urgent repair of water leaks and the sanitation of the roof, as well as planning other essential repairs in collaboration with the school's management, the AFA, and the Department of Education, including pest control measures.
Finally, a motion to improve the safety and facilities of the Escola Ventós Mir was approved with the support of PSC, ERC, BeCP, and Guanyem (with the PP abstaining). The agreements include accelerating the construction of the new school, conducting a technical inspection within one month, and carrying out pending works on the kitchen, restrooms, and painting of the entire school before the end of the year.
