Today's work has involved the placement of the bridge's final circular structure, a component measuring 13 meters in outer diameter and 4.20 meters in inner diameter. This new platform features inclined surfaces for a more hydrodynamic geometry, thereby enhancing its response to wave impacts. The metal structure rests on 11 pilings, each 80 centimeters in diameter, anchored approximately 12 meters below the seabed, and its installation was carried out from a pontoon.
This operation marks one of the main structural phases of the reconstruction, which began in May 2026 after the structure was affected by the Glòria storm in January 2020. The second deputy mayor, Daniel Gràcia, observed the installation maneuvers and detailed that pending tasks include the installation of the railing, lighting, and wooden decking, aiming for project completion by the end of the year. Gràcia noted that rain episodes might affect certain tasks, particularly those involving wood and lighting, although work is proceeding according to schedule.
The new platform was designed based on an alternatives study conducted and tested at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), with the goal of improving the structure's performance against maritime storms. The project, co-financed by the Ajuntament de Badalona and the Àrea Metropolitana de Barcelona (AMB), has a budget of 4,082,786.64 euros.
