The volume, authored by philologist Albert Ibañez Domènec, offers a rigorous approach to the writer's life and work through extensive documentation. The book reviews Argenté's various personal and professional facets, as well as his contribution to contemporary Catalan literature.
Born in Badalona in 1931, Joan Argenté combined his legal practice with intense literary activity, excelling as a poet, playwright, and translator, particularly of French poetic and theatrical works. During his formative years, he was influenced by prominent cultural figures such as historian Enric Bagué and writer Maria Aurèlia Capmany.
His literary career began in the 1950s and solidified in 1960 with the publication of the poetry collection El temps, de tants dits, which won the Premi Joan Salvat-Papasseit. Throughout his career, he received numerous accolades, including the Premi Carles Riba (1975) and the Creu de Sant Jordi (2006).
The biography is based on the study of the documentary and photographic collection that Joan Argenté himself donated to the Badalona Museum, allowing for a deeper understanding of lesser-known aspects of his life and literary output.
The presentation event, to be held at the Badalona Museum at 7:00 PM, will feature the author, Albert Ibañez Domènec, and Teresa Biayna and Agustí Pons, personal friends of Joan Argenté, as well as the City Councillor and Vice-President of the Badalona Museum's Governing Council, Rosa Bertran.
