Marina Badalona and Civil Protection of the Generalitat organized an emergency drill at the Port of Badalona to test the facility's Self-Protection Plan (PAU) and the coordination between intervention teams and external emergency services.

The exercise, which began at 11 AM, simulated a fire on a boat moored at pontoon B, involving a spill and two people affected by smoke inhalation. A smoke machine and two mannequins were used to practice rescue maneuvers. The drill assessed the PAU activation, emergency notification procedures, and the response of the facility's first intervention teams, as well as coordination among participating organizations for fire spread and water contamination risks.
With the usual Sunday staffing level, port personnel handled the initial intervention, notifications, and preliminary tasks. Actions included separating nearby vessels, rescuing affected individuals, and deploying containment booms for the spill. Marine radio communication was also tested.
Firefighters of the Generalitat, with 13 personnel and 5 units, participated in extinguishing the fire and rescuing affected individuals, some from hard-to-access areas. Simulated victims were evacuated for medical attention.
The drill strengthened operational coordination between Firefighters, Mossos d'Esquadra (maritime section), Local Police, and port authorities to enhance joint response to maritime and port emergencies. The Guardia Urbana controlled land access and mobility, while municipal Civil Protection acted as observers. The Mossos ensured security and checked for potential criminal indications.
Civil Protection of the Generalitat coordinated the organization, and the Operational Coordination Center of Catalonia (CECAT) monitored the incident, assessing the need to activate civil protection plans like PROCICAT and CAMCAT.
