The Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital kicked off its Christmas activities with a visit from a team of seven Badalona firefighters. These professionals brought a Tió de Nadal (Christmas Log) that they had crafted themselves, intended to surprise the youngest patients.
The visit initially focused on the Pediatric Hospitalization Unit. There, in the hospital classroom, the firefighters and children performed the 'caga el Tió' tradition, following the Catalan custom with a stick and the typical song.
An initiative that seeks to humanize the hospital stay and bring the joy of the holidays to admitted children and teenagers.
After the activity, the children received gifts, made possible by the donation from the Badalona bookstore Saltamartí Llibres. Subsequently, the activity was repeated in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Hospitalization Unit, where the teenagers also enjoyed the tradition.
The Fundació El Somni dels Nens (The Children's Dream Foundation) also collaborated in the event, donating Tió-shaped notebooks and pens to the Hospital, encouraging young patients to be creative during the Christmas holidays.
