The auditorium of the Badalona Municipal Hospital will host this Wednesday, November 4, a new blood donation campaign organized by the Blood and Tissue Bank and Badalona Serveis Assistencials.

The campaign will run from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Those interested in participating must register in advance, for a morning or afternoon slot, via the provided website, although if places are available, walk-in donations will be accepted.
Early autumn rains affected the usual donation rate, prompting a call to donate blood before the upcoming Christmas holidays. Individuals aged 18 to 70 with good health, weighing over 50 kilograms, and not pregnant (if female) can participate under the slogan “When needed, we are there”.
Additionally, the event will recruit bone marrow donors, who register in the international REDMO registry to be available for stem cell donation to patients in need, such as leukemia patients. The call for REDMO specifically targets young people and men, as patients achieve better clinical outcomes with younger donors. Lactating mothers can also register as breast milk donors.
Catalonia requires 1,000 daily donations to meet patient needs. Common reasons for transfusions include cancers, intestinal bleeding, heart attacks, fractures, or blood diseases like anemia.
