The 2026 labor calendar establishes a total of 14 non-working days. Of these, eight are mandatory national holidays, four additional days will be set by each autonomous community, and the remaining two will be chosen by each municipality.
The eight common public holidays across Spain, as approved by the BOE, include January 1 (New Year's Day, Thursday), January 6 (Epiphany, Tuesday), April 3 (Good Friday, Friday), and May 1 (International Workers' Day, Friday).
The remaining national holidays are August 15 (Assumption of Mary, Saturday), October 12 (Hispanic Day, Monday), December 8 (Immaculate Conception, Monday), and December 25 (Christmas Day, Friday).
Regarding autonomous communities, Catalonia will be able to choose four additional days from various options, such as April 2 (Maundy Thursday), April 6 (Easter Monday), June 24 (Sant Joan), or December 26 (Sant Esteve). Furthermore, the National Day of Catalonia, September 11, is a regional holiday specific to the community.
