The city of Barcelona will be one of the Spanish venues for the NASA Space Apps Challenge, the world's largest STEAM hackathon, taking place on November 14-15 at the 42 Barcelona campus.

The initiative, organized with the support of the Telefónica Foundation, the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Catalan Institute for Space Studies (IEEC), Barcelona Activa, and the Spanish Space Agency (AEE), aims to foster digital talent, spark scientific and technological vocations, and connect new generations with current global and space challenges.
For 48 hours, participants with multidisciplinary profiles will work in teams to develop digital and innovative solutions to challenges related to space, sustainability, health, the environment, and other scientific areas. The event, held in Spain since 2018, has built a community of approximately 10,000 people nationwide and boasts two historic global victories (2018 and 2024).
The 2026 edition will be held simultaneously in various Spanish locations, including Barcelona, Madrid, Bilbao, Malaga, Seville, and Murcia, consolidating a national network to identify, train, and showcase technical and creative talent.

"NASA Space Apps demonstrates what talent is capable of when it has a significant challenge and a real platform to practice its skills. Our goal is to highlight this potential and connect it directly with key companies and institutions in the ecosystem."
