The Barcelona City Council has launched aid worth half a million euros to support shopkeepers affected by the October 24th riots, facilitating insurance claims and expediting repairs.

The Barcelona City Council has implemented an aid mechanism worth half a million euros to support the commercial sector affected by the riots of October 24th. The aim is to provide particular support to small and medium-sized businesses, assisting with claims to insurance companies, expediting necessary repairs, and contributing to the swift restoration of normal commercial activities in the city.
A one-stop shop will be established through the municipal teams of Barcelona Activa and the municipal legal services to facilitate the attention and processing of this aid.
Mayor Jaume Collboni explained these measures to representatives of the affected shopkeepers during a meeting at the Barcelona City Council. Also attending were the Minister of the Presidency of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Albert Dalmau, and the Minister of Enterprise and Labour, Miquel Sàmper.
During the meeting, held shortly after the weekend's riots, discussions also focused on how to enhance the alert system with protection recommendations for the commercial sector. The City Council's involvement and the police and judicial follow-up for damage recovery and attribution of responsibility to the perpetrators were also confirmed.
Furthermore, additional meetings with representatives from the entire sector will be convened in the coming days to improve preventive communication in similar situations.
