The Governing Commission of Barcelona City Council has approved a grant of 400,000 euros to UNRWA Spain for the Education in Emergencies (EiE) project in the Gaza Strip, aiming to guarantee the right to education for Palestinian children in conflict situations.

This initiative, part of the District 11, Cities of Palestine program, seeks to ensure that Palestinian children can continue to receive quality, inclusive, and equitable education, even in crisis contexts. The project complements other humanitarian efforts in Gaza, such as access to urgent medical care for refugees and displaced persons.
Additionally, the Governing Commission has approved a collaboration with the Bethlehem Municipality through a contribution of 150,000 euros for the program Promoting Local Economic Recovery-LED Initiatives in Bethlehem. This initiative aims to revitalize the city's urban, commercial, and community life, with a special focus on young people, women, and local small businesses.
This agreement with Bethlehem follows up on the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two cities to promote institutional development, modernize municipal services administration, and foster technological development for citizen well-being.
Finally, a grant of 50,000 euros has been awarded to the project Emergency humanitarian response for displaced population and host families in Saida and Nahr el Bared (Lebanon) 2026.
The District 11, Cities of Palestine program, driven by the Barcelona City Council, aims to enhance cooperation with Palestinian cities and the Palestinian refugee population, based on a commitment to peace, human rights, and global justice.
