The Barcelona City Council has inaugurated a new children's park at Travessera de Gràcia, 253, in the Vila de Gràcia neighborhood, transforming a degraded plot into a community play area.

This action responds to a neighborhood demand to reclaim a space that previously served as a dog area and had deteriorated over time. The intervention aims to give a new use to this small enclave between buildings, as reported by the council.
The project included the installation of four children's play structures: a spring rider horse, a seesaw, a playhouse with a ramp and slide, and a climbing structure made of robinia logs. Additionally, a new fountain has been installed, and the surrounding vegetation has been renewed.
The council has planted new trees to create shaded areas in the play zone and has designed flowerbeds and structures to encourage the growth of climbing plants that, in the future, could cover the party walls. The ground in the play area has been replaced with new shock-absorbing sand.

"The intervention means recovering a degraded area and reopening it completely renovated, with more greenery, in a neighborhood where it is difficult to incorporate new public spaces for community life."

Laia Bonet · First Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Gràcia
The reopening of this space was a request from residents, who had asked for the former dog area to be transformed into a community use space. However, residents from the same district have recently filed objections against the construction of housing in the Jardí de l'Alzina, lamenting the creation of a 'hard plaza' instead of a green space.
