The rain that fell across Catalunya and Barcelona this Saturday forced the closure of access points to the Besòs Fluvial Park as a preventive measure, after the alert phase was activated. The heavy rains caused the river flow to rise to 47 m³/s as it passed through Santa Coloma de Gramenet, a figure more than 10 times higher than the usual flow rate.
This rise, according to the Agència Catalana de l'Aigua (ACA), is lower than the one recorded on December 27, when the flow reached a maximum peak of 83 m³/s near the mouth. Regarding rainfall records, Barcelona accumulated between 10 and 20 liters per square meter until mid-afternoon on Saturday, with forecasts indicating that precipitation episodes will continue to be intense.
This first rain episode will end on Sunday to make way for a new storm. The AEMET has named this new disturbance Storm Harry, which, in addition to possible continued rain, will bring a very severe maritime storm.
