On September 17, new training modules promoted by the Ethics Committee of the Official College of Veterinarians of Barcelona (COVB) were recorded. This initiative aims to consolidate knowledge of the ethical and deontological principles guiding veterinary practice.
The project takes the form of a series of concise videos that will illustrate common scenarios in daily work, based on frequent inquiries received by the Committee. The goal is to foster reflection on how to manage these situations, promoting veterinary care founded on respect, responsibility, and quality of service through an accessible audiovisual format.
The modules will cover three key areas of professional practice: informed consent, emphasizing the importance of clear communication with animal owners before medical procedures; dignified treatment of clients, highlighting the need for respectful and professional interaction, especially in sensitive situations; and respect among professionals, underscoring the value of maintaining collegial relationships.
These audiovisual materials will help identify situations that may raise ethical questions and will reinforce professional conduct criteria through practical case representations.
The recording involved the voluntary participation of registered veterinarians who acted as performers, contributing their experience to shape a project that brings ethics closer to professional reality. The COVB thanks them for their involvement in making this initiative possible.
Currently, the modules are in the editing and layout phase. They are expected to be available soon to registered veterinarians through the COVB's communication channels, thus offering new training resources for the ethical management of veterinary practice.
