The international triathlon event, which is solidifying its position as one of the city's major sporting occasions, will be centered at the Complex Esportiu Municipal La Mar Bella. The main novelty of this edition is the return of the Olympic Distance (1,500m swim, 40km cycle, and 10km run), which has sold out all its slots weeks before the race. This reintroduction responds to the demand from the triathlon community.
The Middle Distance (1,900m swim, 88km cycle, and 21km run) enters its second edition, established as the weekend's flagship event. The organization has revamped the cycling course, which now consists of three laps on roads completely closed to traffic, extending to Vilassar de Mar. With this program, Barcelona strengthens its standing among the world's leading triathlon capitals.
The 2026 Challenge Barcelona Triathlon program also includes the Sprint Distance (750m swim, 20km cycle, and 5km run), the Junior Challenge (300m swim, 7km cycle, and 1.5km run) for participants aged 12-17, the Aquathlon (750m swim and 5km run), and the Open Water events (1,900m or 3,800m swim). Saturday's events will ensure a vibrant sporting atmosphere throughout the weekend at the Mar Bella area.
The 2026 Challenge Barcelona Triathlon will award 25,000 euros in prize money for the PRO Middle Distance category, with financial rewards for the top six finishers (men and women), including 5,000 euros for the winner.
The TRIEXPO, Barcelona's triathlon hub, will fill the CEM La Mar Bella track with leading brands from the sector, open to the public on Friday, October 23 (3 PM - 7 PM) and Saturday, October 24 (9 AM - 6 PM), with free admission. Furthermore, the Triathlon Without Borders project reaffirms the Challenge Barcelona Triathlon's commitment to social inclusion, making triathlon accessible to individuals with intellectual disabilities.
