Barcelona's Park Güell hosted 1,800 attendees for the 'Blues for Tete and Bebo' concert, a tribute to Tete Montoliu and Bebo Valdés organized by the Barcelona Jazz Festival.

The Park Güell gathered 1,800 people this Monday for the concert Blues for Tete and Bebo, a proposal from the Barcelona Jazz Festival honoring two great figures of the genre: Tete Montoliu and Bebo Valdés. The concert, open to local residents, is part of the park's cultural agenda, aiming to bring the venue closer to citizens and strengthen its ties with surrounding neighborhoods. This performance is one of the main events of the 60th anniversary of the Barcelona Jazz Festival, which commemorates three years (2026-2028) with various activities across the city.
The event brought the festival to one of Barcelona's most emblematic spaces, celebrating the careers and artistic legacies of two musicians central to the festival's history. This collaboration reinforces the Park Güell's commitment to hosting city-wide cultural events and making them accessible to the local community.

"With this recognition, the festival has sought to highlight the figure of one of the Catalan pianists with the greatest international projection and an essential name in jazz history."

During the event, Joan Manuel Serrat presented, posthumously, the Festival's Gold Medal to Tete Montoliu, which was received by his daughter, Núria Montoliu. Additionally, Serrat performed as a special guest alongside Andrea Motis (vocals and trumpet) and Paquito D’Rivera (alto saxophone and clarinet), enriching the evening dedicated to the musical legacy of Montoliu and Valdés.
This initiative continues the Park Güell's free cultural agenda, which has previously featured events such as the cantata Carmina Burana, a concert by the Escolania de Montserrat, and the dance performance Decostumari. These activities have seen high participation from local residents, establishing the park as a vibrant venue open to the public.
The artistic lineup also included performances by Los Fumero (Lucia Fumero on piano and Horacio Fumero on double bass) and Cucurucho Valdés-Javier Colina with Inor Sotolongo.
